NASA Delays

NASA delayed the planned launch of its new planet-hunting spacecraft. The delay is next week by one day. They need the extra time to check the extra rocket after the agency's last sattelite crash into ocean on Tuesday.

Mars Spacecraft

There is a spacecraft orbiting around Mars. NASA engineers are trying to find out why in went into safe mode this week. Engineers think it may have been hit by a cosmic ray. The cosmic ray caused it to mistakenly believe there was a power surge. The spacecraft is programmed to go into safe mode when it meets an unusual event. The engineers are trying to find out what actually happened.

NASA Launch

NASA plans to launch the space shuttle discovery at March 12. If it doesn't fly by March 13 and 14, it will have to wait until April because of a Russian Soyuz rocket. NASA kept postponing the launch because of hydrogen gas valves.

NASA Failure

NASA send a satellite to track the culprit in global warming. The satellite crashed in an ocean near Antarctica after today's launch. This mission was worth $280 million dollars to answer questions about global warming.

Global Warming

Global warming danger has increased. This includes extreme weather and threats to animals and plants. Carbon dioxide and other gases have been blamed for rising temperatures.

Bomb

There was a homemade bomb in a Cairo bazaaar. Cairo is in Egypt. It killed one person and injured 21. Police found another bomb and detonated it safely. Nobody know who did it. It could have been more than one person.

NASA delayed laucnh again for the fourth time. Managers don't know when the flight will take place.

Today three teenager plus a 13 year old were fatally shot. There is more than one killer. The shell casings found point to at least one assault rifle. No one was in custody.

There is junk from the collision that is clogging up the orbit around the Earth. Now people are making a decision to fix the problem.

Teens are asked by parents to lower the volume on ipod but they increase the volume. The teens start getting odd habits. The most risk and severe is the hearing loss. Teenage boys listen louder than girls.

Comet

Backwards green comet makes a one time visit. The comet is called Lulin. You could possibly see it with your eyes but recommended to use binoculars or a telescope. The best oppurtunity is before dawn. It will be 38 million miles away from the Earth. Lulin was discovered by a Chinese teenager two years ago.

Fireball

A fireball streaked across the Texas sky on Sunday morning. Nobody knows what it was. It might have been space debris after the collision between the two satellites.

North Korea is preparing a rocket launch on Monday.

NASA delays launch again. The launch is scheduled at February 27. NASA wanted more time to review analysis and test results.

Russians and U.S. are blaming each other for the collision. A Russian expert suggested that NASA fell down on the job by not warning about the collision. U.S. agents said that the Russain had the wrong agency.

Mummies were found in Cairo. Cairo is a storeroom housing about two dozen ancient Egyptian mummies inside a 2,600 year old tomb. The tomb was found at the bottom of a 36 feet deep shaft.

Australian Wildfires

There were wildfires in Australia. There were 108 people died. There were 750 homes destroyed.

Albinism

I learned what albinism is. It is a disease. You get it when you don't have enough melanin. Melanin is skin pigment. Since you don't have enough melanin, it causes your skin to look white.

USA Swimming

Michael Phelps is suspended from competition for three months in USA swimming. I don't know why and when this happened.

Delays

Nasa delays discovery mission to space station. It has been delayed for one week until February 19.

bat killing

There is a bat killing syndrome. A mysterious and deadly disease was discovered two winters ago in a couple of New York caves. They have at least spread to 6 northeastern states. Scientists are rushing to find a way to stop it before it spreads across the country.

Telescope

There is going to be a telescope launch by NASA. IT is going to check if there are any Earth type planets that orbit different stars.
